FREDERICKSBURG — A Fredericksburg resident called police when his 5-year-old son found a bullet hole through the wall of a bedroom Tuesday morning, according to Natatia Bledsoe, public information officer for the Fredericksburg Police Department.

The fired round came from an adjacent apartment, and the bullet hole lodged into the side of the bedroom dresser at an apartment in the 2300 block of Cowan Boulevard, Bledsoe said.

After a search, police discovered four firearms belonging to the person in the adjacent apartment.

Alexander Furgason, 25, of Fredericksburg was arrested and charged with reckless handling of firearm and later, unlawful discharge of a firearm into an occupied dwelling — a Class 6 felony.

A gun was fired at about 1 a.m. that day and Furgason did not check on his neighbors or report the incident when it occurred.
