Giant Food’s 2007 Good Neighbor Food and Funds Drive brought in more than $348,000 and 200,000 pounds of food to be donated to needy families throughout the greater Washington, D.C. area.
According to a store news release, food will go to the Fredericksburg Area Food Bank, the Capital Area Food Bank, the Maryland Food Bank, the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank in Verona and the Food Bank of Delaware.
The donations were collected at various Giant stores during a six-week period in November and December.
“Giant has supported area food banks for more than 25 years,” said Jose Alvarez, president and CEO of Giant Food. “…Our annual Good Neighbor Food and Funds Drive offers our customers a convenient way to donate money and food to assist needy individuals and families.”
