STAFFORD — Kohl’s plans to award nearly 2,000 students this year through its Kohl’s Kids Who Care scholarship program.
The company, which has honored more than 7,000 children since 2001, is currently accepting nominations for the 2008 program.
This year, the company plans to honor 1,900 children with more than $300,000 in scholarships and prizes. Awards range from $50 to $5,000.
According to a company press release, children across America contribute more than 1.3 billion hours of community service each year.
To nominate a volunteer between the ages of 6 and 18, people can visit the Web site, kohlskidswhocare.com. Nominations will be accepted through March 15. In the end, two nominees from each of Kohl’s 900 stores will get a $50 Kohl’s gift card, 190 will get $1,000 scholarships and 10 will receive $5,000 scholarships.
