FREDERICKSBURG — The Fredericksburg Area Metropolitan Planning Organization recently announced the 45-day public review period for its proposed Public Participation Plan. The PPP is available for review at the FAMPO office, regional libraries and online at fampo.gwregion.org from March 2 to April 16. The review of the plan will culminate with a public hearing during the FAMPO board’s regularly scheduled meeting at 7:30 p.m. FAMPO encourages local residents to review the plan and comment by April 16.
The plan details the public involvement process to be followed by FAMPO when planning the transportation future of the Fredericksburg area and sets standards for measuring the effectiveness of the public outreach process.
“Public participation is integral to FAMPO’s transportation planning success,” said Lloyd Robinson, FAMPO administrator. “Projects funded through the public dollars must be planned in a manner that encourages public participation and incorporates the public’s vision and needs into the planning efforts and decision-making process.”
The staff will present all comments received to the FAMPO Policy Committee for its review and consideration. Following the review period and public hearing April 16, FAMPO will adopt the PPP.
Copies of the PPP to review may be found online at fampo.gwregion.org, at regional libraries and at the FAMPO office at 3304 Bourbon St., Fredericksburg, VA 22404. Residents should call and make an appointment if they choose to visit the office.
Residents may comment on the PPP by e-mailing staff at ; attending policy committee or board meetings March 19 or April 16; calling (540) 373-2890 or faxing (540) 899-4808; or mailing letters to FAMPO, Attn: Marti Donley, Community Outreach Coordinator, P.O. Box 863, Fredericksburg, VA 22404.
