Mount Vernon to celebrate July 4
FREDERICKSBURG — Historic Mount Vernon will celebrate George Washington’s contribution to America’s freedom on July 4th with its annual event “An American Celebration.“ The day will feature military reenactments, a musical performance by the National Concert Band of America, a special wreath laying ceremony, free birthday cake and a visit from the “first” first couple, “General and Mrs. Washington.“ All events are included in regular Estate admission: adults, $13, children ages 6-11, $6 and children under 5 are admitted free.

Bluemont presents ‘The Taters’
FREDERICKSBURG — The Bluemont Concert Series presents the Taters on at 7:30 p.m. at Maury School Stadium in Fredericksburg. Admission is $5 per person, $4 for Bluemont Friends and seniors, $2 for children under 12. Proceeds go to support Bluemont’s year-round Artist-in-Education program in area schools. Church hosts soccer camp
STAFFORD — The Rockhill Baptist Church hosts a free weeklong soccer camp coached by Brazilian soccer professionals. The camp will be held at Willomere Park on Mountain View Road in Stafford, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Ages 8 to 18 are welcome to attend, and receive a free T-shirt. L’Angelus to come to Fredericksburg
FREDERICKSBURG — The Bluemont Concert Series is proud to present L’Angelus on Saturday, July 12 at 7:30 p.m. for the third of ten performances in Fredericksburg. All Saturday evening concerts take place at the Maury School Stadium field, located at the intersection of Hanover St. and Kenmore Avenue in historic Fredericksburg.
Concertgoers are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs, and a picnic to enjoy before the show. Admission is $5 per person, $4 for Bluemont Friends and seniors, $2 for children under 12; proceeds go to support Bluemont’s year-round Artist-in-Education program in area schools. As at all Bluemont concerts, no pets, alcohol or smoking are allowed. In case of bad weather, the concerts will be held at James Monroe High School. All are welcome to these family oriented events.
L’Angelus is a country-folk-cajun band made up of members of the Rees family from Lafayette, Louisiana, the home of old-time Cajun music. Members of the band include Rees children Katie, Paige, Steve and John. Formerly known as the Lucky 4 Band, they have shared the stage with Neal McCoy, The Platters, and Clarence Clemons of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band and featured on NPR nationwide.
