FREDERICKSBURG - Longtime fan of the CBS Television show "Survivor," Tracy Hughes-Wolf, 43, of Fredericksburg, has joined a cast of 20 contestants that will appear on the 16th season of the show to compete for a $1 million prize.

Wolf and nine other longtime fans will be pitted against 10 former contestants from previous seasons of the show, to compete on the Rock Islands of Palau, Micronesia.

"I'm a thrill-seeker; I wanted to push myself to the point where I knew I could do it," said Hughes-Wolf in a statement on the fan Web site, survivor.com

"Tracy should be very valuable because of her background, because she's a woman who works in construction. I don't know how much she wants to share about what she does, because there's a part of her that thinks if she comes on too strong [she] could be seen as a threat," said Jeff Probst, the show's host, in interview comments posted on the Web site.

The longtime Virginia resident, who works in the construction field, once attended Virginia Commonwealth University, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

The show, Survivor Fans vs. Favorites, airs Thursday nights on WUSA Channel 9 in Washington, D.C. and on WTVR Channel 6 in Richmond.
