Stars and stripes spectacular
The Fourth-Annual Spotsylvania Stars and Stripes Spectacular will be held at the Spotsylvania Courthouse from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. There will be fun for the whole family, two entertainment stages, children’s activities, fire, rescue and sheriff office safety activities, food vendors and a fireworks display at dark. There will be shuttle busses from Courtland High School to Robert E. Lee Elementary School.

July 4 celebration at Mount Vernon
Historic Mount Vernon will celebrate George Washington’s contribution to America’s freedom on July 4th with its annual event “An American Celebration.” The day will feature military reenactments, a musical performance by the National Concert Band of America, a special wreath laying ceremony, free birthday cake and a visit from the “first” first couple, “General and Mrs. Washington.” All events are included in regular Estate admission: adults, $13, children ages 6-11, $6 and children under 5 are admitted free. ‘Taters’ at Bluemont
The Bluemont Concert Series presents the Taters on at 7:30 p.m. at Maury School Stadium in Fredericksburg. Admission is $5 per person, $4 for Bluemont Friends and seniors, $2 for children under 12. Free weeklong
soccer camp
The Rockhill Baptist Church hosts a free weeklong soccer camp coached by Brazilian soccer professionals. The camp will be held at Willomere Park on Mountain View Road in Stafford, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Ages 8 to 18 are welcome to attend, and receive a free T-shirt. Bird watching at Ferry Farm
Birding tours will take place this season at George Washington’s Ferry Farm. These fun and informative tours are for anyone interested in our feathered friends and their local habitats.
Ferry Farm is located at 268 Kings Highway (Rt. 3), in Stafford. The tour begins at 8 a.m. The cost of admission is $5.
Art shop to hold seminar
Ten Thousand Villages, a non-profit shop that helps artisans in developing countries around the world will be hosting Doug Dirks at 10 a.m. for an hour of artisan stories from around the world. There is no cost to attend the session. The shop is located in Central Park, between Carrabba’s and Casmille’s Cafe. For more information call (540) 785-9967.
