Rockhill Elementary
The top readers in the year-long Reading Counts program and were awarded gift cards to purchase books at the Rockhill School Bookfair: Third-grader Byron Frazier was the top award winner with 500 points earned. Other top readers include Kindergarteners Jessie Kantor, Nabil Collison-Cofie, Meghan Brown, Jordan Dugger and Elina Thompson; First-graders Andrew Wheelin, Kyle Morgan, Emilie Brandt-Hare, Alison Sober, and Jorge Vargas; Second-graders Jessena Robinson, Jaylen Mai, John Hayward, Devian Huynh, and Elias Guevara; Third-graders Byron Frazier, Brayhan Gonzalez, Sidney Morgan, Kristopher Donahue, and Sam Lichtman; Fourth-graders Taylor Pedigo, Riana Chan, Brittney Vargas, Kaelan Rodgers and Megan Sharp; Fifth-graders Wilson Cartwright, Beth Cirelli, Baffour Gyamfi, Erynn Hayward, Kurt Kondracki and Elisa Pharo. All students who participate in the program and reach a minimum set number of points receive ribbons and certificates based on the number of points earned.
The annual Evening Open House will be held on Aug. 28. Last names A-L attend at 5:30 p.m., with Kindergarten orientation at 5:45 p.m. Last names M-Z attend at 6:30 p.m. with Kindergarten Orientation at 6:45 p.m. Families can meet their child’s teachers, join the PTO and receive school calendars. Families can also purchase school supply packets and school T-shirts, put money in lunch/breakfast accounts and find out bus route information. Class lists will be posted at 5:30 p.m.
Due to numerous construction projects ongoing at Rockhill this summer, the main office has relocated and visitors must enter the building through the door nearest the activity room.

Kate Waller Barrett Elementary
During the months of August and September, Barrett is running a “School Supply Drive.” Besides the items mentioned in the Barrett Grade Level Supply List, while parents are picking up their child’s items they may want to pick up a few extra items and donate them to help keep the children supplied through the year. Donated items can be dropped off at the school Monday-Thursday between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Those still needing the Barrett Grade Level Supply List or those with questions about the school’s “School Supply Drive” may e-mail PTO representative Lisa Taylor at
