STAFFORD — The Stafford County Board of Supervisors met Tuesday at the Stafford County Administration Center along Courthouse Road.
They voted 4-3 to have a public hearing on whether or not to have a Business, Professional and Occupational Licensing (BPOL) Tax, in the county. The board is considering whether to charge half the maximum rate allowed by Virginia state law.

Supervisors Paul Milde, R-Aquia; Mark Dudenhefer, R-Garrisonville; and Cord Sterling, R-Rock Hill, cast the dissenting votes.

Most surrounding localities, including Spotsylvania and Prince William counties and the City of Fredericksburg, have a BPOL tax.
The public hearing will be take place July 1 at 7 p.m. in the Stafford County Administration Center. The administration center is located at 1300 Courthouse Road in North Stafford.

Also at the meeting, Supervisor Milde brought up the possibility of naming a road after Deputy Jason Mooney, who was killed in the line of duty in an automobile accident while responding to a call.
