STAFFORD — The line to enter the official Obama-Biden Campaign Headquarters in North Stafford began well before it officially opened its doors at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday.

The new Stafford headquarters is located at 2063 Jefferson Davis Highway, inside the a dance studio. When visitors walked inside, they found a large room tastefully decorated with “Vote for Change” signs and filled with Democrats, their paraphernalia and red, white, and blue balloons.

The office is the second Obama-Biden office to open in Stafford. There is also an office on Cambridge Street in south Stafford, and surrounding offices in areas including Fredericksburg and Woodbridge.

Democrat volunteers were passing out “Vote for Change” signs and Obama-Biden bumper stickers and answering questions. Democrats arriving were invited to sign up to canvass neighborhoods, enter data and perform other duties.

“We’re trying to turn Virginia blue for the first time since I’ve been alive,” said Stafford Democratic Chair Marc Broklawski.

Volunteers who signed up as they entered the room were given packets of voter registration sheets, partners and neighborhoods, and headed out for a Kickoff Canvass.

Broklawski remarked, “I’ve never seen so many young democrats.”

“This is a first time for me,” said Stafford resident Sherlyn Powell of the Rock Hill District. “It’s an opportunity that I haven’t taken before. This has been really exciting. I’ve never been so excited about an election.”
