Three Delaware residents arrested
FALMOUTH — Three Delaware residents were arrested Aug. 4 shortly before midnight for attempting to defraud two businesses in the southern part of the county, reported Stafford County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Office Bill Kennedy on Aug. 5.
A deputy received a call about a person cursing at a clerk at the Ferry Farms Wal-Mart. The person was said to have left the store and headed toward the Sheetz gas station just east of it in a white van without state tags.

The deputy proceeded to the Sheetz and spoke with Hassie Wall, 35, of Palmer Place in Newark, Del. He asked Wall if he had been to Wal-mart and if he had cursed a cashier there. Wall replied that he did not know what he meant and that he had not cursed anyone. He stated he had been to Richmond and that he was headed back home to Delaware. He could not produce identification.

When asked if he was with anyone he pointed to a male inside the Sheetz. Carolyn Wall of Bennett Street in Wilmington, Delaware, had been waiting in the car in the driver’s seat.

The deputy went inside the Sheetz and encountered an individual at the counter in a conversation with a clerk concerning a check. The man, Denard Turner, 28, of Washington Street in Wilmington, Del., was questioned.

A total of 21 charges, including conspiracy, check fraud, shoplifting, and obstruction of justice were ultimately served on the trio and they were incarcerated in the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.

Vandals hit cars in South Stafford
FALMOUTH — Several cars were vandalized in the southern part of the county between 9 and 11:30 p.m. on Aug. 7, reported Stafford County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer on Aug. 8.

Cars in Brookstone, Deacon Hills Estates, Argyle Heights, and Grafton Village had windows either smashed with a blunt object or shot out with a BB gun.
A witness in Deacon Hills saw a car drive alongside another and heard a loud noise. The car left in an “unknown direction,” said Kenney. When the witness took a look at the car the window was found to be shot out.

Anyone with information regarding this offense is encouraged to call the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office at (540) 658-4400 or Crime Solvers at (540) 659-2020.

Woman charged with three felonies
WIDEWATER — Noting a black SUV with a badly cracked windshield at the intersection of Widewater and Decatur roads at about 6:40 p.m. on Aug 8, Deputy Nathan Thompson pulled the driver over, reported Stafford County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Bill Kennedy on Monday.
Thompson noted also that one of the three rear brake lights were not functioning properly. When he arrived at the car, he noted an odor of alcohol. The driver’s eyes were bloodshot and glassy and she had three children in the back of the car.

She said the car had passed inspection and that there was nothing wrong with her brake lights.
The deputy found that the woman, Helen Shaw of Eastham Road in Bumpass, had an outstanding warrant in Spotsylvania, which she denied having.

While in the cruiser, Shaw got out of her car and asked questions about her brake light. She was ordered to get into the cruiser.
A search of her person found a paper with what appeared to be crack cocaine residue.

She was taken to the magistrate where she refused a breath test. She was charged with three counts of felony child neglect, possession of schedule 1 or 2 narcotics, driving under the influence with children, intoxication in public. She was also served the Spotsylvania warrant.

A relative was contacted to take the children away from the scene.

She was incarcerated in Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $19,000 bond.
