STAFFORD — A South Carolina schoolteacher has been sentenced to 25 years in a federal prison for soliciting sex from an undercover Dumfries police detective, according to an Associated Press report.
Timothy Brumit, 48, previously pleaded guilty to the charges that he attempted to meet an undercover police officer, posing online as 13-year-old boy, in a North Stafford shopping center for sex.
In an online chat Brumit told the officer that he was going to come to Virginia and take the boy back to his South Carolina home to live there permanently.
While there Brumit said he would perform sexual acts with the detective, according to court documents.
Police arrested Brumit in January and a search of his personal computer yielded more than 40,000 images and more than 600 videos of child pornography.
Prior to his arrest Brumit had been teaching in South Carolina since August of 2007.
