OUR OPINION
Published: September 3, 2008

This week on Sept. 11, 2008, you’ll wake up blessed with a new day. You may think it’s like any other, and in some ways, it is. But, just think of it as a reminder, perhaps, as what should be gratitude for life.

Seven years ago on Sept. 11, 2001, was so long ago, and yet it’s gone by in a flash. Life is short and time is fleeting. One never knows what will happen tomorrow, as is evidenced by the tragedy that occurred on that fateful day.

For a few minutes at least, on the anniversary, remember to pause and remember those who were lost that tragic day.

In the same way that historic events do so, one can usually remember where they were when tragedies of monumentus proportions happen. Of course, we
don’t want to remember the bad times. But we do want to remember the people, the lives that were lost and the contributions that they made while they were
here — whether they were firefighters running into a building to save someone, or a businesswoman just having headed to work that day or an airplane passenger just on a routine flight.

All of the lives lost that day in September 2001 are and always will be important, and we don’t want to ever forget them. For those who lost family or friends that day, we want to comfort you and let you know that we too remember — not quite like you always will, but we remember and respect those you have lost.

May they rest in peace and live on in our memories and hearts forever.
