‘I’d like to say how peculiar it is to be here.“ With those words, Robert Plant may have summed up the state of country music with a brevity that would make even Alan Jackson say, “You know, he nailed it with that line.”

It’s not unusual for my wife to rush in from work and announce that she must immediately turn on “Oprah.” An episode last week also piqued my interest.
That is a semi-rare occurrence. I’m not an Oprah-hater like lots of guys, but it’s not like I’m tuning in right at 4 p.m. every day, either.

The progression amazes me. When you get married — indeed, sometimes only minutes after — everyone starts asking when you’re going to have kids.
And then when you have a child, another question comes up. This one takes a bit longer to germinate, but it certainly comes before your firstborn is 2 years old: When are you having another one?
